Why Regular Cleaners Don't Work
Most bathroom cleaners are formulated for organic stains (soap scum, body oils). Hard water deposits (calcium carbonate) are alkaline minerals that require an acidic solution to dissolve. Using the wrong cleaner just wastes effort.
Method 1: White Vinegar (Best for Mild Deposits)
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray on affected tiles, let sit for 15–20 minutes, then scrub with a non-scratch sponge. Rinse thoroughly. For stubborn spots, soak a cloth in undiluted vinegar and press against the area for 1 hour.
Method 2: Lemon Juice + Salt (For Taps and Showerheads)
Cut a lemon in half and dip in salt. Scrub directly onto faucets and fittings. The citric acid dissolves mineral deposits while salt provides abrasion. Rinse and buff dry with a cloth.
Method 3: Commercial Descaler (For Severe Buildup)
Products like Harpic Scale Remover or Rin Descaler contain phosphoric or hydrochloric acid. Apply as directed, leave for the specified time, then scrub and rinse. Always wear gloves and ensure ventilation.
Cleaning the Showerhead
Fill a plastic bag with white vinegar. Secure it around the showerhead with a rubber band so the head is submerged. Leave overnight. Remove the bag and run hot water through the showerhead to flush out loosened deposits.

- Apply car wax to tiles once a year — it creates a barrier against mineral deposit
